See if this works, copy all the files from the disc to your harddrive. Then run the setup from the HD and install it.

My hard drive is almost ready I will keep you all updated on my result
  2.
Talk about lack of beta testing the installer/autorun files.. the link on the "autorun" for "homepage" only has one "/" so the homepage does not even come up right unless you type it in manually using two "//" .. oops.. ;)
  3.
RJW.. same here.. and we all hope and pray. Nothing like a serious buzz kill when your excited about a game right? ;)

RJW_ca: good luck with the copy! One thing you can also try out: in your program files directory you most likely have a InstallShield XXX directory; try renaming it to something else and see if that helps.
Warship: hehe only old versions of Internet Explorer do not add the missing "/", IE8/Firefox/Chrome adds it automagically ;)
  4.
Nope.. installer dies when run off the HD also. Sent report to Installshield.

oh and on a side not (I dunno if anyone looked in the manual) I try'd emailing to their tech support (T4@evolvedgames.com) and it was bounced back.....
  6.
Tried renaming installshield directory.. still no go. TERMINATED BEFORE INSTALLING. Might become the new name of the game.
  7.
My system.. WinXP SP3, tried on 2 DVD drives (one is a DVD RAM drive - the other a standard DVD drive), tried from HD, AMD 64 x2 Dual 6000+, WD 1 TB drive, 3.25 registered GB of RAM.
  8.
Fired off an email to info@evolvedgames.com .. someone had better check this out before their sales die right off the bat.

RJW try'd calling the number provided in the manual, no answer at the number... (the number for anyone else who wants to call is inside the back cover of the manual, 954-727-2313)
  10.
Guys.. try sending to this email address.. press@evolvedgames.com .. seems it MIGHT be the only way to reach Evolved games.. since we have seen no reply on this forum yet, there is no support thread by them so far, no support email address that I can find, no phone number (tried one it doesn't work), so.. maybe someone at that email address might respond.
  11.
Tried the 954 number.. they all must be on lunch break.. no answer and I am in their state of FL.

    Giving you my 2 cents....

Based on the error (-5006:0x80070002) that you reported from what other have experienced (in other apps) it usually is caused due to a registry problem, or a missing file issue from the media. It may also be due to a Virus Scanner such as McAffe or Firewall that maybe preventing the file from being installed in the first place.

I would suggest that you try temporarily disabling any third party app and retrying the installation. If the issue re-occurs then post your FULL dxdiag log since what you posted did not contain the full content.

Finally try defragging and ensuring that all of your drivers are set optimally.
  12.
I just fired off messages to two of the largest software distributors in the USA to see if they can contact any living soul at Evolved games.. someone had better get on the ball with this problem before the fan base terminates TERMINATOR SALVATION.

mothman (no offense to you).. I shut down my AV and even rebooted. I have over 40 titles on my PC without a problem with any of them. Just recieved my first response from a major distributor.. they are recieving reports of the problem also. This is NOT an isolated problem. This is a complete installer failure and Evolved games had been act on it fast before this the largest launch date failure of any game in PC gaming history.
  14.
techsupport@terminatorsalvationthegame.com .. I emailed them. Thanks for the new email address.

mothman I'm going to assume you mean error reporting function, not Dxdiag (since all that is, is system info) I don't have a vius scanner, and I'm using Sygate fire wall (still doesn't work even without it) defragging a hard drive won't help with an install (except making it to a shade faster) and considering the install fails right after you select your language, I don't think drivers could play any role :P

    as for my error report:

    Error Code: -5006 : 0x80070002
    Error Information:
    >SetupNew\setup.cpp (630)
    PAPP:Terminator Salvation

    $15.0.0.498
    @Windows XP Service Pack 3 (2600)
    IE Version: 6.0.2900.5512
  15.
"The issue is being investigated, and we will get back to you asap! " .. Whose reply is this? Was this their official reply?
  16.
    Same error exactly...

    Error Code: -5006 : 0x80070002

i had the same error, i took a picture of the error with my camera phone and went back to the store i bought it from. i showed them the pic so they wouldnt hassle me saying that it was on my end. i was able to exchange it for another copy, instead of pc i went with the ps3 version and have no problems. This is the worst launch of any pc game that i have ever seen

    no offense taking... :-)

I am still waiting myself for Terminator to unlock on Steam but if I can offer any assistance in the meantime then I will defintely assist.

You may want to try running a third party app entitled HijackThis to make sure there are no known rogue apps (malware) on your machine that maybe interferring.

I am also wondering if it could be a license issue that was unable to authenticate the serial key.

however the more it seems that others are experiencing this problem then the stronger it points that it is a media issue or something on the side of Evolved Games....
  17.
Heads up.. contacted 2 major USA distributors directly and they are now attempting to reach Evolved on this problem. I will let all of you know what I find out as soon as possible.

YEP, ITS PISSES ME OFF, SPENDING 50 ON A PC GAME YOU CANT TAKE BACK, THAT DOESNT EVEN WORK. YOUD ASSUME THE SOFTWARE MAKER WOULD EXTENSIVELY TEST THIS BEFORE RELEASE. WHAT DO THEY CARE, YOU ALREADY BOUGHT IT, NO RETURNS ON SOFTWARE. THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY. THEY DONT GIVE A RATS ASS.
  18.
To MM.. chances are it may be a bad media burn image corrupting the installer, the installer file is coded incorrectly for the game files, or the installer is not reading Windows information correctly and causes it to fail. In any case.. someone from Evolved should have been watching this forum at launch date and at least shot off a reply of some kind.

To BT, chances are you can return it to your store with verification of the failure. Most stores can return product if proven all are defective and no known solution is yet available. I would never buy from a store that would not allow for returns in these types of situations.

i see this seems to be the general concensus . As my copy bought in Edmonton does not work either and it same error. i called EB to warn them to tell other customers to expect error and buy at own risk. what is sad is that they wont answer customer service cause they are likely readying a statement.lol
