Acupuncture » The Well Clinic

Acupuncture is a core element of The Well Clinic’s services package.  One of the oldest medical systems in the world, Traditional Chinese Medicine – of which acupuncture is the central element – approaches mental health from a systemic perspective, looking at and treating the interactions between the essential functions of the body as the foundation for physical and emotional wellbeing.  Acupuncture also operates from a philosophy of health that includes not just the physical, but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual realms as equal partners in the system.

Licensed acupuncturists at The Well Clinic bring to their work – in addition to comprehensive training in the theory and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine – a wide range of skills and specializations, including massage therapy, neuronutrient therapy, herbal medicine, and nutrition.

How Acupuncture Works

Acupuncture has been, and still remains, one of the oldest and most effective healing practices in the world.  Traditional Chinese medicine views acupuncture as a method for balancing the energy and flow of life – known as Qi – within an individual.  Qi flows through channels – called meridians – throughout the body, nourishing every cell and tissue.  However, if the energy flowing through these meridians becomes blocked, physical, mental, and emotional issues can ensue.

Licensed acupuncturists at The Well Clinic target specific areas of the body to remove any obstructions that inhibit an individual’s flow of energy.  By placing tiny, disposable, sterile needles into specific points on the body, our acupuncturists can both relieve physical pain and restore mental and emotional well being.

What Can Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture is often associated with the alleviation of physical pain.  However, our approach to treatment emphasizes the system as a whole, with physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual factors working in tandem to contribute to an individual’s overall well-being.  Acupuncture can be an effective treatment for stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, muscle aches, and high blood pressure among other ailments.  In addition, many also report a sense of calmness and clarity following treatment.

Acupuncture and Prevention

Although it is often viewed as a method to target a specific condition, acupuncture can be used as a preventative medicine.  It is not uncommon to have individuals receive acupuncture 2-4 times per year as a balancing or “tune up” treatment.  This can prevent disease, while also promoting health and increasing energy and vitality.

Is Acupuncture Right for Me?

Acupuncture has an ability to treat a wide variety of ailments, while also contributing to emotional and spiritual well-being.  Our approach emphasizes a holistic treatment method.  We believe that your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states are inherently linked and deserve attention.  By taking all of these interworking factors into account, we hope to aid you in your healing.

What to Expect

For many, acupuncture can be a new, somewhat daunting treatment plan.  However, our licensed acupuncturists are highly skilled to devise a treatment plan suitable to you.  First, you will undergo a brief yet thorough evaluation.  Treatment schedules are largely subjective, depending on the individual’s goals and specific ailments.  However, most treatments occur in several increments throughout the course of a few months.
