My Approach

My orientation as a therapist is a humanistic one.  I trust the inter-subjective experience that arises naturally between therapist and client to inform the direction of exploration.  In this approach I allow myself to enter into the client-therapist relationship in a skillful, authentic way.

My intention is for the client to feel the support of my training as a clinician, as well as the availability of the person I really am.  When working with couples I assume an active stance.  I help clients to identify their primary defenses, assume greater responsibility for themselves, increase honestly and emotional generosity.  Although each and every couple is very different, my primary goal is to assist couples in decreasing unhealthy conflict, while promoting honesty and emotional closeness.
