My Approach

I have worked in the field of counseling and Mental Health since 2003.  My roles have spanned work with homeless and queer youth, foster care, and support services for Spanish-speaking immigrant families.  From my background in social services I came to the work of psychotherapy because I wanted to facilitate healing at deeper and more subtle levels.  My approach is relational and humanistic. I have a warm but active and authentic style.  I am not the stereotypical therapist who sits back and nods. I am engaged and curious about you and your process and will find your edge with you in a way that also feels safe and empathic. I have extensive training in AEDP, created by Dr. Diana Fosha, which combines attachment theory, somatic work through the body, and uses the most current neuroscientific research to demonstrate the healing power inherent in emotion and intimacy.

I specialize in working with couples as well as nontraditional relationships and my work is informed primarily by the research and theory of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, The Gottman Method, and the Couples Institute.

I conduct psychotherapy in Spanish and English.
