Psychodynamic Therapy – Maya Johansson, LMFT

Psychodynamic Therapy is one of the most traditional forms of therapy. It is based in the understanding that we are affected by unconscious needs and strategies, many of which are formed in childhood.

With Psychodynamic Therapy, you can discover new ways to talk about your feelings: including those that contradict each other, are troubling, are scary and feelings that you may not have recognized or acknowledged in the past.

This exploration accepts that even though you may have new words to explain an emotional difficulty, that doesn’t mean you have been “cured.” The idea is that by understanding your patterns, you get more control over how you respond to your life.

Most clinicians at Well Clinic use Psychodynamic Therapy as a foundation for your healing process, then build upon that with a variety of other integrated therapy techniques.
